Statistics is a branch of math has always been one of the most useful branches of math as so many professions use this type of math in order to get work done. Now the lawyers would especially find this branch of math useful as they would often need to make a lot of probability tests while looking up cases. Now just so that people will know, here is some information on statistics for lawyers.
Now the ones who is making use of this type of math would be the lawyers themselves, the judges, the prosecutors, and basically almost all the practitioners. This branch of math is very important in this field because in order to properly document evidence, one would need cold and hard facts. These cold and hard facts would often come from statistical computations.
Now one of the first lessons that one would study would be the categories of data. Now in this lesson, the students will be learning the different types of data and the different types of statistical treatment to give to those data types. Of course they are further sub categorized into data with a single variable, one with two variables and a lot more kinds of data that one will be learning while during the lesson.
There would also be the lesson when it comes to probability. Now probability is probably one of the most important parts of law because it involves knowing how to come up with figures that would be able to supply evidence for a certain case or situation. Of course there are also a lot of subcategories under this one as well.
Now when it comes to probability, one would be learning sampling methods like random sampling, purposive and many more. Now one would also learn some probability techniques as well like the basic and the conditional ones. Of course one of the most emphasized techniques would be none other than the Bayes rule.
Now another topic that one would be learning would actually be inferential statistics. Now this type would have lessons that are related to point estimation or hypothesis testing. Now hypothesis testing is indeed a very important topic in law simply because this would be able to produce figures that cannot seem to be solved.
Now regression is another topic that would be emphasized when one would learn this type of thing. Now one would learn about how to find the relationship of two variables namely the independent and the dependent variables. In linear regression, one will connect one variable to another variable and in multiple regression, one will be connecting one variable to several variables instead of just one like in linear regression.
So basically, those are some of the things that one would learn if he would take up statistics while he is in the field of law. Now as part of the lessons, the teachers would often use cases in order to really test the knowledge of the students. Now these cases would of course be legal cases to see how students can apply these theories.
