By Kerri Stout

One of the many things that one needs in order to have all that he wants and needs is a permanent employment. The world of work can be quite demanding and will entail for one to do everything that he can in order for him to live. People are able to do everything just to keep their position, just so that they will always have the means to be able to buy what he wants and needs.

Because of all the needs and wants that human beings have, it essential that everyone manages to land in a good job and keep at it for quite some time. Employment is a two way street, which is why most companies hire contractors who have already taken the California contractor license exam to add to the number of manpower. In turn, these workers receive monetary compensation for a job well done.

An independent contractor is a natural person, a business, or a corporation that provides the needed goods and services that one needs. All of these are done under all the terms that should be specified in a contract, even in a verbal agreement. They are usually paid on freelance basis and often work through a limited company or franchise. They could also work through an umbrella company.

Before they can work freely with other companies, contractors should take and pass the license exam for contractors. If one operates without a license, there are certain penalties that one needs to face. You do not have to have a certification for as long as you do not advertise yourself as a licensed worker. They are not needed for projects that cost five hundred dollars and less.

First offense will classify the act as a misdemeanor. The contractor could serve the sentence behind bars for half a year. On top of that, he will also be required to pay a fine of five hundred dollars. Some first time offenders just might be subjected to pay a potential administrative fine. This certain penalty often amounts to twenty percent of the total cost of the project to be started.

To avoid brush ups with the law, it is then recommended for contractors to take and pass the examinations doled out by the board of contractors. Before he submits his application form, he must be able to meet qualifications. He must be, first and foremost, of the legal working age. On top of this, he must be a very able field supervisor who sees to it that every aspect in the singular project is working splendidly.

The board will also allow representation by somebody else. This somebody else is then referred to as the qualifying individual. This representative must have at least four full years of experience at the journey level, as foreman, supervisor, or contractor within at least ten years prior to application. A contractor licensee is also required to pay at least two thousand five hundred dollars as operating capital.

After all of these, you can finally submit the completed forms. The board will then reply with a notice to attend when they have successfully received and accepted your application. All you have to do now is to appear at the testing area in the correct date and time.

Testers are given three an a half hours per exam. If you fail to appear, your seat will be given to another candidate. They will be given their testing results right after they have completed it.
